What Makes Enduro Bites Work?
Lemon Juice? Well, yeah. We chose our ingredients not just to make them taste really amazing, but to supply a high-quality source of energy and to deliver the natural health benefits found in these ingredients. Some of them might surprise you!
Figs — Natural source of B-vitamins, calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, folate, and chlorogenic acid, which has been shown to help lower blood sugar levels and control blood-glucose levels.
Rice syrup — High in glucose to fuel endurance work. Converted to blood sugar more slowly than other sugars (sucrose, cane sugar, dextrose) for a more stable energy level.
Raw honey — Contains natural invert sugar to provide quick energy. Reported to possess anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Rice flour — An easily digested, gluten-free, hypoallergenic starch rich in Manganese (which aids in calcium absorption).
Rice protein — An allergen-free, plant-based protein recently found to have equal effects to whey protein in exercise recovery.
Lemon juice — One of the most potent alkalizing foods. High in potassium. Contains the anti-inflammatory flavonoids hesperetin and naringenin.
Orange juice — High in vitamin C. Also contains the anti-inflammatory flavonoids hesperetin and naringenin.
Sodium bicarbonate (natural baking soda) — Another highly alkaline forming nutrient. Has been used to combat exercise-induced metabolic acidosis.
Sea salt — A natural source of iodine and trace minerals. Also alkaline forming.
Virgin coconut oil — A unique, quickly digesting energy source rich in lauric acid (a medium chain triglyceride) which promotes fat burning and is believed to have anti-viral and antibactierial effects. May inhibit the bacteria responsible for tooth decay.
Dark chocolate — Has been shown to improve blood flow to heart and brain, stimulates positive mood and cognitive health through endorphin release, helps control blood sugar through it’s flavonoid content, and contains Theobromine which hardens tooth enamel.
Espresso-roast coffee beans — Source of natural caffeine which improves cognitive performance and may lessen the perception of discomfort associated with intense physical efforts. Coffee beans also contain polyphenols which exert strong antioxidant effects and may reduce oxidative cell damage. The tannins in coffee beans may also reduce dental plaque formation.
