Enduro Bites FAQ
WHAT ARE ENDURO BITES?
Enduro Bites are a fresh, all-natural, gluten and allergen-free nutrition bar developed to fuel high-energy activities.
WHAT MAKES ENDURO BITES DIFFERENT?
We handcraft Enduro Bites daily in our commercial kitchen so we can ship each order fresh. Each package contains two 100-calorie bite-sized squares. They are soft enough to eat during strenuous exercise, yet tasty enough to enjoy as a nutritious snack any time of day. Enduro Bites are also free of milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, and soybeans.
WHEN SHOULD ENDURO BITES BE EATEN?
Enduro Bites can be eaten any time of day, although they were developed as an ideal fuel for high-energy endurance activities like cycling, running and backcountry skiing.
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO FUEL WITH ENDURO BITES FOR EXERCISE?
If you haven't eaten recently, consume 1 to 2 Enduro Bites squares 10 to 15 minutes pre-workout.
We recommend consuming a 100-calorie square every 20 to 30 minutes during exercise lasting over an hour. Most nutritionists prescribe a minimum of 200 to 300 calories per hour of exercise.
I’VE NOTICED A WHITE FILM ON MY ENDURO BITES. WHAT IS THIS?
Some of the coconut oil in Enduro Bites will solidify on their surface when stored below 75 degrees Fahrenheit. This is not harmful and it will go away when you warm them to room temperature.
ARE ENDURO BITES VEGAN?
It depends on where you stand in regard to honey. Since honey is produced by bees, strict vegans tend to avoid it. For this reason we refer to Enduro Bites as Plant-Based. We include honey in Enduro Bites because it is a great fuel source and it has a gentler effect on blood sugar levels than processed sugar.
WHY DON'T THEY CONTAIN MORE PROTEIN?
We experimented with higher protein versions during Enduro Bites development, but athletes preferred the current recipe, which they found lighter on the stomach. Enduro Bites are formulated to digest quickly to fuel high-energy endurance activities; slower-digesting protein lends itself more to recovery.
DO I NEED TO REFRIGERATE OR FREEZE ENDURO BITES AFTER PURCHASE?
While not required, refrigeration is recommended after purchase to maximize Enduro Bites fresh-made taste. If you don't plan to eat your Enduro Bites for a month or more, keep them in the freezer for long-term storage.
If you're going to be exercising in the heat, freeze your Enduro Bites chocolate flavors overnight so they are chilled before heading out. This will keep the dark chocolate from melting before it hits your mouth.
Enduro Bites can be eaten directly out of the freezer. Their high virgin coconut oil content keeps them soft enough to chew without risk of a broken tooth. This also makes them an ideal fuel for cold workouts where other bars tend to freeze solid.
HOW MUCH CAFFEINE IS IN THE DARK CHOCOLATE ESPRESSO FLAVOR?
You'll get 20-25mg of naturally-occurring caffeine from real coffee beans per 100-calorie square in Enduro Bites Dark Chocolate Espresso flavor. For comparison, an average cup of coffee contains between 95 and 200mg of caffeine.
WHAT’S WITH THE “ENDURO” PART OF YOUR NAME?
To us, Enduro is a lifestyle. It's about getting out in nature and doing the things we love, whether it's cycling, running, hiking, skiing or some other high-energy activity. Even while we sit at our desks or make Enduro Bites, we dream about our next endurance adventure. We structure our days to maximize each and every one of these adventures, because they bring pleasure and meaning to our lives.
